Saboteur Pleaser Reflection and Mental Fitness Workshop begins 10/12

PQ Intelligence™

The Pleaser Saboteur, according to PQ Intelligence is the part of us that indirectly tries to gain acceptance and affection by helping, pleasing, rescuing, or flattering others. The Pleaser loses sight of their own needs and becomes resentful as a result (aka pride).

This Saboteur belongs to Enneagram Type 2. Type 2’s strengths include deep empathy, loving and giving, tuning into other people’s feelings and needs, being emotionally self-aware, and having high Emotional Intelligence. These are beautiful qualities. Each Enneagram has its strengths. Our Saboteurs take our strengths and distort their power.

The lies of this Saboteur include “I don’t do this for myself,” “I do this selflessly and don’t expect anything in return,” and “The world would be better if everyone acted this way.” Type 2s feel if they express their own needs they are being selfish. They worry that their own needs drive people away and they get resentful for being taken for granted but struggle to express this.

The Pleaser Saboteur jeopardizes the Type 2’s needs. It leads to burnout and resentment. Others may develop a dependence on you that isn’t healthy. Our Saboteurs always do the opposite of how we think it serves us. If any of this rings a bell, you might be a Type 2. We all know Type 2s. They are usually in the service-oriented industry, giving of themselves. Now you know a little about them.

If you think you are a Type 2, book a FREE Enneagram Session with me and we can confirm it. This will shed invaluable light on your strengths, shadow and how to get back to your True Identity - Will and Freedom.

I am so excited to be offering another workshop, Holding Space for Relationships PLUS Mental Fitness. We are currently working through a Health and Wellness PLUS Mental Fitness workshop, understanding the roles our Saboteurs play in our health decisions. Our Saboteurs wreak havoc on our relationships, too. However, going into the Mental Fitness seven-week series without the real knowledge of your Enneagram type does you a disservice, SO….. you will need to sign up for an Enneagram reading ASAP as I need a week to prepare your typing session and we start on the new Holding Space for Relationships PLUS Mental Fitness on 10/12. Limited to six people.

This Week’s blog is all about the ripple effect of our Sage and

how our Saboteurs are the causes of our storms.

Saboteur STICKLER Reflection, FREE Enneagram Typing Continues and this week's blog

According to PQ Intelligence™, our Saboteurs are the nasty voices in our heads, wreaking havoc on our minds and stress levels. This week, I am going to explore the Stickler.

PQ Intelligence™

The Stickler is associated with Enneagram Type 1. The Stickler seeks perfectionism and a need for order and organization too far. The Stickler offers a way of quieting the constant voice of self-judgment and fear of others’ judgments by trying to be perfect. Being punctual, methodical and a perfectionist might seem self-serving but these characteristics (as with all Saboteurs) are highly destructive. The lies of the Stickler include “it is up to me to fix whatever mess I encounter,” “this is my personal obligation,” and “I know how things should be done and must do the right thing.”

This leads to constant frustration and disappointment with self and others for not living up to the ideals and standards. The Stickler is a source of ongoing anxiety and frustration. It is how an Enneagram Type 1 expresses anger. The Stickler comes across as irritable, tense, opinionated, and sarcastic. Thoughts of this Saboteur include “right is right and wrong is wrong,” “if you can’t do it perfectly, don’t do it at all,” and “others simply aren’t as capable as me.”

Enneagram Type 1’s strengths include high ideals and standards. Type 1s are highly capable of leading self and others to live and work based on clear guiding principles. They are also incredibly self-disciplined and have a direct and discerning communication style.

You may not be a type 1, but if you know one, now you know why they behave the way they do and it will be helpful for you to give them some space and grace.

Enneagram typing is where everything begins when it comes to personal growth. I wouldn’t say you can’t grow without it, but it does give you a blueprint for growth and much more of a rudder to help you steer your ship. I will continue to offer this for FREE so please tell your friends (or better yet, forward this newsletter). I want to change the world. I want people to live their fullest lives and the Enneagram gives us direction and purpose so we can all live with intention. After your typing, you can continue to choose to invest in your growth with me as your coach OR you can do the work DIY. Either way, to me, it is a win-win.

This week’s blog is all about how feeling comfortable can lead to growth. Click on the picture below.

A Healthier You Starts Tuesday!

FINAL CALL FOR HOLDING SPACE WORKSHOP BEGINNING 8/29

Over the years, I've offered several Holding Space for Health variations but my last group was the first one to begin to explore Mental Fitness.  Mental Fitness is our capacity to respond to life's challenges with a positive rather than a negative mindset and is one of the keys to unlocking a healthier version of yourself.

In my latest "Space" derivative, we will be exploring Mental Fitness as an operating system for healthier choices. Of course, it can be applied to any life situation, but OUR emphasis will be health.

The same rules apply (no drinking, weighing yourself daily, food journal, and exercise) but we will be exploring the root causes of our current operating system and how to change it at a moment's notice no matter the circumstance.  Mental Fitness includes a weekly homework video series (one hour weekly on the weekends) and an app to provide even more accountability.

So here is the breakdown:

When and where:  Begins 8/29 Tuesday evenings 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm via Zoom

What:  Seven weeks of group coaching including tools and weekly quotes, group sharing, AND access to a world-class app - it is wonderful!

Cost:  $200

Limited to 8 people

If you have been on the fence about attending the Holding Space for Health workshop, maybe this Thank You note I recently received will help with your decision:

“I want to let you know how grateful I am to have come across your Holding Space workshop. Truthfully, I was in a pretty dark place all of those weeks ago and I wasn’t sure how to begin to find the light or if I even wanted to. Now, nine weeks later, I feel as though I’ve made some significant progress in my health and wellness thanks to your workshop and our weekly meetings. Your genuine guidance, positive nature, infectious smile, words of wisdom, and inspirational quotes (I could go on…) have impacted how I ‘curate’ my days. I’m beginning to find MY light again, something that’s been missing for far too long. So thank you for all that you do to help those that need a little guidance or some encouragement or that gentle reminder that is okay to hold space ourselves.”

And since YOU read to the bottom of my newsletter, I have a very special treat. I am just starting to fine tune my Enneagram coaching work and I need some guinea pigs to work through Enneagram typing sessions. This is FREE to the first five people to sign up!

Enneagram is a very powerful tool used for personal and spiritual growth. It has given me the ability to see things about myself I definitely would not have recognized before delving into all that Enneagram has to offer. There are no strings attached. This is a typing session. You will most likely walk away with your Type (I say “most likely” because you will need to be self-aware) and I will follow up with an email including some recommended readings and other references.

Clearly My Mental Fitness is Questionable PLUS A FREE GIFT TO GIVE!

Trying to stay on top of my marketing and promising myself ‘At least write a weekly newsletter’ shouldn’t be that challenging. Except there is a second step after I write the newsletter that I rarely remember. Hence the Email Subject Line is rarely in line with the content of the newsletter. My apologies! I will get better at this.

As an apology, I would like to send anyone who is interested in gifting my book to please email me and send me the giftee’s address. I am trying to continue to build my business (you would be doing ME a favor if you request this) and would love to get my book in the hands of people who don’t know me.

here is a rePEAT of last week’S NEWSLETTER.

Are you Mentally fit?

Mental fitness is defined by our capacity to handle life’s challenges with positive rather than negative emotions. So the question is, “Are you mentally fit?” If you answered “yes,” read no further. If you answered “no,” “I don’t know,” or “I’m intrigued,” then read on.

You may or may not know, that I recently completed a Mental Fitness program called PQ Intelligence™ and FELL IN LOVE.  The program radically simplifies the negative emotions we feel, our Saboteurs, and teaches us how to change them into positive emotions, our Sage, throughout our day, no matter what our day brings.  This program goes far beyond a meditation practice without the lengthy time commitments of a daily meditation practice. Even if you think you are on the right path, I can tell you from experience, these Mental Fitness lessons take your path to new heights.

So, beginning August 22nd, I will be so starting a 7-week Mental Fitness program with PQ Intelligence™. This program includes weekly homework and seven weeks of group coaching on Tuesday evenings. Additionally, I am offering a Reclaim Your Spiritual Compass program that piggybacks on the 7-week Mental Fitness program, where we take a much deeper dive into working through your specific Saboteurs, your Sage, and shadow and includes 4 private sessions and more group coaching. You can watch a brief introduction to Mental Fitness HERE and a more in-depth (20-minute) webinar on both programs HERE.  I know I use ‘life-changing’ often, but this truly is not to be missed!  I promise.  This is a deeply discounted program - space is limited so grab a friend and sign up today!

Always the Student

I love to learn. Right now, I am learning all about the Enneagram (much more to come on this topic) and Positive Intelligence. I’m taking courses in both and really enjoying it.

Shirzad Chamine

Positive Intelligence is all about our Saboteurs and changing these little negative characters into our positive Sage powers. This course is based on Shirzad Chamine’s book Positive Intelligence and it is life-changing. I don’t say that about too many books (maybe a dozen at this point) so heed the advice.

In this week’s blog, I tackle The Judge. Mine is The Bully. Check out my blog here and learn all about her!

Cheap Cheap Cheap

Please remember to forward this to anyone who might benefit from my offerings. Thank you!

No - I’m not imitating Easter chicks (that would be cheep cheep cheep) I’m offering inexpensive Group Coaching! I’m limiting my groups to 10 participants (except lunchtime coaching is only for six people) @ $10/session.

Go to my Group Coaching page and register for whichever session works in your schedule. This is a fantastic opportunity to create some forward motion in your life whether it is to be held accountable to your health goals, improve your relationships, or your spiritual journey. Accountability is scientifically proven to work so if you have been wondering why those New Year’s resolutions have come and gone, it is because of a lack of accountability. It isn’t YOU. It is SCIENCE!

Tell a friend and have her/him join you. There is nothing better than double the accountability!

Monday: Lunchtime Group Coaching Noon to 1:00 pm

Tuesday: Group Coaching 4:00 - 5:30 pm

Wednesday: Lunchtime Group Coaching Noon to 1:00 pm

Thursday: Group coaching 6:00 - 7:30 pm (begins 4/6)

No blog this week…..maybe next week.

Review: It is with gratitude I was invited to join in on Julie's soulful practice workshop. The timing was perfect for me to rekindle the fire in my own soul-searching journey. Her book, "The Little Guide to Finding Our Lost Souls", is just that. A guide to read with questions to ponder and suggestions for practicing. I highly recommend the book and the workshop to either begin or continue the awakening of finding your true self.

Continuing to Live in the Mystery

Please remember to forward this email to anyone you think might benefit.

Many times I sit down at my computer, take a moment or two of silence and then see what happens while my fingers press down on the keyboard. This week, I continue to embrace living in the mystery, as many times, I have no idea what is going to come out!

I was told months ago by my astrologist (I know, you may not be a believer and that is ok) that something big would be happening in March so I wrestle with “the doing without the knowing” - seemingly my theme for 2023 - living in the Mystery.

Below, I embrace this with my watercolor practice AND introduce my 12 Future Self Principles. The watercolor work is just an exercise my good friend and art mentor, Sally, suggested I play with. So I did. Not a finished product, BUT by putting it out there, I am forced to continue to live in the mystery, adding to it and seeing what else percolates.

Move forward in the unknowing and KNOW that is ok. This is living in the Mystery, towards the Unknown with daily forward motion whether you know the why or not.

Click on the watercolor below to be taken to my 12 Future Self Principles - my blog for this week. The essence of my coaching practice all rolled up into a neat list of

12 daily to-dos.

Holding Space for Health Workshop

Document the moments you feel most in love with yourself, what you’re wearing, who you’re around, what you’re doing.  Recreate and repeat.  Warsan Shire

I LOVE IT! A beautiful reminder to keep loving ourselves and repeating how that feels. So important.

This week in our workshop, we worked on having homework, self-prescribed homework, and the workshop seemed to be fueled with more intention. I wrote everyone’s plan down for the next two weeks as we held space for one another to re-commit or double-down on our health intentions. I am looking forward to seeing what happens over the next two weeks as some people head off for vacations. Like I said to the group, “wherever you are, whether it is in Stowe, VT or Florida, you practice your healthy lifestyle. That doesn’t change.”

Book Club Night - Meet the Author

You know I’m not really one to plug anything I do, but here I go - you’ve been warned. If you are looking for a fun night (or afternoon) with your book club, I would be happy to meet with your group for FREE to discuss my book, The little Guide to Finding Our Lost Souls (which can be purchased here). It’s a great way to spend some time with your book club friends, discussing all things Lost Souls-related and doing a medium-deep dive into the lessons in the book. Just email me and we can arrange it!

CURATING THROUGH GRIEF WITH LOVE

Jackson Seivwright 4/29/2002 - 2/12/2023

A beautiful weekend with my oldest son getting married ended in the news of a local young man losing his life in a skiing accident. The elation of the weekend screeched to a halt to feel the deep grief that only comes from losing such a wonderful person. Pure light and love, Jack had so many friends and lit up the room when he entered. We will all deeply miss him.

I wasn’t prepared for the role my Health workshop would play in the grieving process our entire community was feeling. Almost every participant showed up to the workshop. The workshop provided the space to fully express themselves. I had planned to chat about travel and special occasions but quickly had to pivot to consider how difficult this health thing is when we are grieving. Naturally, we want to reach for comfort foods or worse, drinks, or for some of us, we have no appetite. I realized in the midst of the workshop, what we need to do during a deep grieving process is to take the time to take care of ourselves by making better food choices, and exercising or getting out in nature. In general, you can’t care for anyone else unless you are caring for yourself. It is so important to be able to hold space for those who need it and if we are depleted, we simply can’t be there for them. We must fill our cups with LOVE for ourselves and this includes continuing to make healthy choices. Only then can we show up in LOVE for those in our lives that depend on us. I suggested they curate their days with time carved out for self-care, preparing healthy foods, and exercise. All of this is curating in the name of LOVE. And then, we can give of ourselves.

If you want to read a fabulous book about curating for your creative self and yes, everyone is creative because every day we curate our days, read The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin. Life changing.

And for those who enjoy my weekly blog, here it is.
